Spinal Decompression Technique
Our staff at Bay Clinic of Chiropractic takes pride in being one of the best pain clinics in Panama City Fl for offering non surgical Spinal decompression techniques. We have state of the art equipment for advanced diagnosis and treatment procedures.
Spinal Decompression is achieved by relieving pressure on one or more pinched nerves of the spinal column. This is done by specifically combining the spinal positioning with varied degree and intensity of force. A gentle pull created by a logarithmic curve is the key to producing such decompression.
This treatment differs from the ordinary spinal traction and is completely safe as well as comfortable for all conditions.
Spinal decompression can be practiced both surgically and non- surgically. This technique is useful in treating a host of conditions resulting in chronic back pain.
A few conditions are listed as follows:
- disc herniation
- disc bulge
- sciatica
- spinal stenosis
- isthmic, and
- degenerativespondylolisthesis
You may be a candidate for spinal decompression if you have been advised surgery but you wish to avoid it, or you have been told that there are no more options available for help. If the patient has failed to respond to prior options such as medications, physical therapy, chiropractic, acupuncture, and is still in pain and looking for a different type of medical care, then spinal decompression may be a perfect choice for the patient.
How it Works
Non-surgical spinal decompression uses a mechanical traction device and applies pressure through an on-board computer that controls the force and angle of disc distraction, which reduces the body’s natural propensity to resist external force and/or generate muscle spasm. This enhanced control allows non-surgical spinal decompression tables to apply a traction force to the discs of the spinal column reducing intradiscal pressure, unlike previous non-computer controlled traction tables.
This practice is therefore promoted as safe and effective without the usual risks associated with invasive procedures such as injections, anesthesia or surgery. Spinal decompression works through a series of 15 one minute alternating decompression (using a logarithmic decompression curve) and relaxation cycles with a total treatment time of 30 minutes. During the decompression phase the pressure in the disc is reduced and a vacuum type of effect is produced on the nucleus pulposis. At the same time nutrition is diffused into the disc allowing the annulus fibrosis to heal.
The appeal of non-surgical spinal decompression is that it is a non-invasive, non-surgical, drug-free alternative treatment for low back pain, sciatica, disc degeneration, disc bulges, disc herniations, and facet syndrome. There is copious anecdotal evidence of its effectiveness and more case studies are being published demonstrating very positive results in patients who have tried other conservative treatments that have failed.
